Community Fragments is a collaborative effort by five students in the research Master’s programme of Cultural Analysis at the University of Amsterdam. The blog functions as a platform for creative exchange, but is also a shared experiment to probe the limits and promises of ‘thinking Community’.
This blog has been set up to coincide with a tutorial that deals with current themes related to Community. We argue that Community is a vital concept for thinking contemporary culture, politics, sociability and (global) solidarity. Yet, its current conceptual use in politico-ethical discourse is both conflictual and contradictory. A theoretical and analytical approach thus becomes all the more necessary and acute.
This blog is a reflection of our research activities. But we also want Community Fragments to be its own seperate entity: a place where we can discuss, explore or rethink issues of Community with others. We are hospitable, open to any suggestion and wish to collaborate.
